Lloyd Alton Nyland, 86

Posted by on 3 in In Memoriam

After graduating from Holland High, he joined the U.S. Army and served his country in Occupied Japan. After his return, he received a B.A. in Engineering from Tri State College and during the summers he toured the country as a professional water skier. Lloyd worked for many years at Ex-Cell-O (Textron Micromatic). Lloyd was a long time member of Macatawa Bay Yacht Club and was also active in his neighborhood association (MPCA).

Lloyd built his home in 1960 and for many years was one of the few year-round residents of the South Hill. He was instrumental in designing and constructing the beach jettys in the 1970s and helped build many of the neighborhood roads where his name is still etched in concrete.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marilyn (Randall) Nyland; his daughter Heather (Bill) Johnson of Grand Rapids, MI, sister Donna Hill of Phoenix, AZ and several nieces and nephews.
